Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    crisco....i usually use buttered flavored
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    butter
  • FILLING

  • 4 c
    sliced peeled apples
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • TOPPING

  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 large
    egg
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter or margarine..melted
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/4 c
    coconut

How to Make Macaroon Apple Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. In a bowl,combine flour and salt;cut in shortening until crumbly.
    Gradually add cold water,tossing with a fork until a ball forms.
    Roll out pastry to fit a 9 inch pie plate. flute edges.
  2. Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon;pour into crust.
    Bake in a preheated oven 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, combine the 1st 4 topping ingredients in a bowl.
    Stir in egg,butter and vanilla until smooth.
    Add coconut.
    Spoon over hot apples, carefully spreading to cover.
    Bake 30 minutes longer or until apples are tender.
