Apples and coconut. Yum!! I ADD ABOUT 1/4 CUP OF BROWN SUGAR TO THE FILLING

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crisco....i usually use buttered flavored
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter
  • FILLING
  • 4 cups sliced peeled apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine..melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup coconut

How To Make macaroon apple pie

  • Step 1
    In a bowl,combine flour and salt;cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add cold water,tossing with a fork until a ball forms. Roll out pastry to fit a 9 inch pie plate. flute edges.
  • Step 2
    Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon;pour into crust. Bake in a preheated oven 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Meanwhile, combine the 1st 4 topping ingredients in a bowl. Stir in egg,butter and vanilla until smooth. Add coconut. Spoon over hot apples, carefully spreading to cover. Bake 30 minutes longer or until apples are tender.
