lorraine's peach pie
My sweet cousin, Lorraine, shared this recipe with me several years ago. It is the best peach pie that I have ever tasted!

Ingredients
- 4 - 5 cups fresh peaches (i use 5)
- 1 large egg, slightly beaten
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 - 9" raw pie shells
How To Make lorraine's peach pie
-
Step 1Peel and slice peaches. Place slices into unbaked pie shell & set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-
Step 2Mix together the egg, butter, flour, sugar and vanilla. Pour & spread that mixture over peaches (it will be rather thick) and cover with second unbaked pie shell. Make a few slits in crust to allow for steam release.
-
Step 3Bake @ 350 for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
-
Step 4Optional: You can always brush top crust with egg wash or melted butter then sprinkle with a little sugar. (I brush with butter). Also, it's even better with homemade crusts so if you have the time please make your own crusts.
