I am by no stretch a cook. This was my mom's recipe and its the one thing that I can cook of hers that everyone says tastes just like when she made it. So its a very dear recipe for me. I hope you will like it as well.

  • 1 pkg
store bought deep dish pie crust
  • 3/4 c
  • 3/4 c
    light karo syrup
  • 1 c
  • 1/2 c
  • 3 large
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How to Make Lena's Pecan Pie

  1. preheat oven to 375. Roll out your pie crust in a pie plate & spread the pecans out on the bottom of the pie crust and set aside.
  2. In medium sauce pan put your butter, sugar, and karo syrup cook this on medium high heat stir CONSTANTLY to avoid burning. If you want a nice solid pie not runny very important that you bring tihs mixture ALL THE WAY to a high boil we are talking boiling almost to the top of your pan this takes about 15 minutes to accomplish. Once boiling turn off heat and I continue to stir it until it back to smooth with no bubbles then set aside for a moment.
  3. In a medium bowl put eggs, salt, and vanilla and beat lightly with a whisk once mixed take your hot mixture and slowly add it to the egg mixture as you continue whisking this to keep from cooking your eggs. Next immediately pour the filling over the top of your pecans and put into the oven for 35 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy!
