leila's apple crisp pie

I start out with a single pie crust home made. My Mother's recipe. I am also using Cripps Pink Apples that I have never heard of but they are crisp and a bit tart they are from the Gee Whiz fruit. com. USA The pictures are my own and the pie turned out delicious. I hope you try it and if you do would love for you to post a picture.

Ingredients

  • 1 - single pie crust. i usually make a double crust and put one in the frigerator to use in a couple day's
  • APPLE PIE FILLING
  • 6 large tart apples like the cripps or granny smith ( sliced)
  • 3/4 - 1 cups sugar depends on how sweet you want it.
  • 2-1/2 tablespoon flour
  • 3/4 --1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • CRISP
  • 1 cup oatmeal. i used 1 minute oatmeal this time
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 7 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

How To Make leila's apple crisp pie

  • Step 1
    If you have made a double pie crust and refrigerated one single pie with crust, take it out of frig to warm up. Turn oven on to 350*
  • Step 2
    Mix the crisp: add sugar, flour, salt cinnamon,oatmeal, soda and butter using your hands mix together until it is coarse. Set aside
  • Step 3
    Filling: Drain the apples real good and mix your sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon together. Using a large spoon mix the sugar mix in with the apples and layer them very carefully into your crust. Using a spoon put your crisp mix on top the the apples, pat down lightly and put in oven. Bake approx 45 min or until a fork inserted in center of pie tests that the apples are done. Remove, cool Add Ice Cream or cool whip and serve. Enjoy.
