karo syrup free, pecan pie

I have been looking for a good recipe for pecan pie that didn't call for Karo syrup. I finally decided to invent one myself. It turned out really nice.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 1/2 cup milk, 2%
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup pecans i used pieces because that's what i had on hand.
  • 1 - frozen deep dish pie crust

How To Make karo syrup free, pecan pie

  • Step 1
    Pre heat oven to 350 degrees F. Set frozen pie crust out to thaw.
  • Step 2
    soften margarine, combine eggs, milk and vanilla flavoring in a mixing bowl and mix for 30 seconds with a hand mixer on medium speed.
  • Step 3
    add brown sugar, s.r. flour and salt and mix until smooth.
  • Step 4
    Pour mixture into pie crust shell and add pecans on top. (some pecans will sink, but that's o.k.
  • Step 5
    Place pie on a cookie sheet and bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Pie will rise and set when it is done.
