kahlua (chocolate) pecan pie
Another of my personal favorites my family always asks me to make. You can add semi-sweet chocolate chips if you would like a bit of a chocolate flavor.

Ingredients
- 1 - 9" pie shell, unbaked
- 1/4 cup butter, unsalted
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 3 - eggs
- 1/2 cup kahlua
- 1/2 cup corn syrup, dark
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/4 cups pecans, chopped
- 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/8 teaspoon salt (optional)

Step 1If using chocolate, melt in double boiler.

Step 2Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and flour until fluffy.

Step 3Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 4Stir in Kahlua, corn syrup, cream, and pecans. (Add chocolate at this stage). Mix well and pour into crust.

Step 5Bake at 400° for 10 minutes.

Step 6Reduce heat to 325° and bake for 40 minutes more, until center is firm.

Step 7Cool completely and decorate with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream.
