kahlua (chocolate) pecan pie

Another of my personal favorites my family always asks me to make. You can add semi-sweet chocolate chips if you would like a bit of a chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 9" pie shell, unbaked
  • 1/4 cup butter, unsalted
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup kahlua
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup, dark
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/4 cups pecans, chopped
  • 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (optional)

How To Make kahlua (chocolate) pecan pie

  • Step 1
    If using chocolate, melt in double boiler.
  • Step 2
    Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and flour until fluffy.
  • Step 3
    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Step 4
    Stir in Kahlua, corn syrup, cream, and pecans. (Add chocolate at this stage). Mix well and pour into crust.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 400° for 10 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Reduce heat to 325° and bake for 40 minutes more, until center is firm.
  • Step 7
    Cool completely and decorate with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream.
