This is a good recipe that you can preserve during apple harvest in canning jars and keep for a later day.

Ingredients
- 7 quarts sliced apples set aside in salt water
- 8 cups water
- 6 cups sugar
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 stick butter
- 1 tablespoon apple pie spice
How To Make home made apple pie filling

Step 1Put apples in salt water and set aside. Prepare canning jars for canning.

Step 2Bring remaing ingredients to a boil in a large stainless saucepan. Fill jars with apples add water mixture to just over top leaving apporiate headspace.

Step 3Wipe jars add lids and rings. Put in hot water bath canner and process for 20 minutes. Remove from water and let stand until you hear the "ding" of the lids sealing jars.

Step 4When ready to make pie pour contents in to unbaked deep dish crust and bake for 45-50 mintues. (contents will be thin when poured into crust but will thicken after baking
