green tomato pie
My grandmother makes this pie every year from her garden fresh green tomatoes. Each year before it freeze's. she goes out and picks all the green tomatoes left on the vines, and slices them up and makes several green tomato pies, and freezes them,she all year long she can enjoy green tomato pie with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. This pie is my late fathers and my favorite pie in the whole world.

Ingredients
- PIE FILLING
- 4 medium sliced (like apples) green tomatoes
- 1 cup seedless raisins
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice or white vinegar
- PIE CRUST
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup lard or for crisco--> 2/3 c. plus 2 table of crisco
- 1/4 cup cold water
How To Make green tomato pie

Step 1pre-heat oven to 425* make crust for a 9" pie. (makes two pie crusts, one for the top and bottom layer ) Place one pie crust into bottom of a 9" pan, bake in oven for 15 min. Reduce oven to *350

Step 2Mix all ingredients together in a large bowel then pour into the 9" pie pan,(already baked for 15 min at 425*) place the last pie crust (uncooked) on top of the pie filling, place in oven for 45 mins. at 350*

Step 3let cool and serve warm with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
