Ingredients

  • 1 - deep dish pie crust
  • 30 oz cans pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
  • 6 - large eggs (can substitute 4 whole eggs and 3 egg whites)
  • 6 tablespoons butter (no substitution)
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar (can substitute splenda)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How To Make grandmother van horn's pumpkin pie

  • Step 1
    Place pumpkin, butter, sugar and spices in a high-walled pot or skillet. Cook until heated through, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 2
    Remove pumpkin to a large mixing bowl. Mix in the beaten eggs and flour until smooth.
  • Step 3
    While still hot, pour into a deep-dish pie plate lined with a flour crust.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 70 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Remove from oven to wire rack. Cool completely.
