This pie crust recipe is for one pie crust only. One night my mom and me where making pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and she had me write down the recipe for the pie crust so that I could always have it. I love this pie crust recipe. I have used it for the crust for a lemon and blueberry tart. Yum Yum!!!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt

How To Make grammy's homemade pie crust from scratch

  • Step 1
    Mix flour and salt together in a bowl.
  • Step 2
    Add shortening and cut in until pebbly.
  • Step 3
    Add water and mix into a dough.
  • Step 4
    Roll out until the right size. Put dough into a pan. Flute the edges.
  • Step 5
    If baking unfilled, pierce the bottom and sides of crust. If baking filled, do not pierce crust with fork.
  • Step 6
    Note: When making a wheat pie crust use boiling water. When making a white pie crust use cold water.
  • Step 7
    Bake your pie and enjoy!!!!
