I got this recipe probably 40 years ago. It was on the German Chocolate wrapper I believe. I save it for holidays. It’s very rich so a small piece will be perfect. Who doesn’t love chocolate?

  • 1/3 c
    coconut, shredded
  • 1/3 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 c
  • 1 pkg
    6 serving chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 pkg
    bakers german sweet chocolate, broken in pcs
  • 2 c
  • 1 c
    whip cream
  • 1
    lightly baked 9” pie shell

How to Make German Sweet Chocolate Pie


  1. Heat coconut, pecans, brown sugar, & butter. Stir to dissolve sugar. Spread in pie shell, bake at 450 for 5 minutes until bubbly and crust is golden. Cool.
  2. In a saucepan, combine remaining ingredients EXCEPT whip cream. Cook pudding as directed for pie on pkg. Cool for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Pour into pie shell. Cover surface with plastic wrap. Chill at least 4 hours. To serve, garnish with whip cream and grated chocolate.
