Love, Love, Love this recipe. I've been making this pie since I was in high school, and I won't dare tell you how long ago that has been!

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces bakers german sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 2/3 cups pet evaporated milk
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 - unbaked pie shell

How To Make german chocolate pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • Step 2
    Melt Chocolate and Butter together
  • Step 3
    Gradually blend in pet milk, set aside.
  • Step 4
    Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt together.
  • Step 5
    Beat in eggs and vanilla
  • Step 6
    Gradually blend Chocolate mixture to sugar mixture.
  • Step 7
    Stir in Pecans and Coconut
  • Step 8
    Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  • Step 9
    Bake at 375 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes, until puffed and brown.
  • Step 10
    Filling will be soft but will set while cooling.
