Love, Love, Love this recipe. I've been making this pie since I was in high school, and I won't dare tell you how long ago that has been!

Ingredients

  • 4 oz
    bakers german sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1 2/3 c
    pet evaporated milk
  • 3 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c
    flaked coconut
  • 1/2 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1
    unbaked pie shell

How to Make German Chocolate Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter together
  3. Gradually blend in pet milk, set aside.
  4. Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt together.
  5. Beat in eggs and vanilla
  6. Gradually blend Chocolate mixture to sugar mixture.
  7. Stir in Pecans and Coconut
  8. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  9. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes, until puffed and brown.
  10. Filling will be soft but will set while cooling.
