You've seen those little pies that come in a box(used in lunch boxes)Do youself a favor,make your own.I'm not much on sweets,but fresh is always better.And they freeze very well.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 can pie filling,your choice ,may be the pudding style
  • - sugar glaze,powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar

How To Make fried pies

  • Step 1
    Sift dry igredients into a bowl,then cut in shortening.
  • Step 2
    Add milk gradually,
  • Step 3
    Press into a ball.Roll out to 1/8 inch thick.
  • Step 4
    Cut into rounds or rectangles or squares,in size desired. When filled & folded over you will get half moons or squares or triangles.
  • Step 5
    Place 2 Tablespoons or so in center,moisten edges with water. Fold over and seal edges with tines of a fork.
  • Step 6
    Deep fry at 350* until golden brown.Drain on paper towel and glaze or dust with cinnamon or powdered sugar.
  • Step 7
    Cool well before storing in an air tight container in fridge.
