These are very easy to make and you can also use semisweet chocolate for the filling and melt it. I enjoy making donuts and this is a little similar.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • - oil for frying

How To Make fried chocolate pies

  • Step 1
    Stir together sugar and cocoa.Add melted butter till it forms a paste.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl mix flour and salt; cut in oil.
  • Step 3
    Add milk and stir till dough sticks together; can add more milk if needed.
  • Step 4
    Divide dough into 10 portions and roll each one in a 5 or 6 inch circle.
  • Step 5
    Place 2 tablespoons of filling in each and wet edges and fold over.
  • Step 6
    Crimp edges with a fork so they are sealed.
  • Step 7
    In fry pan heat oil,about 1 inch in depth,and heat over medium heat.
  • Step 8
    Fry pies in hot oil till golden brown on both sides about 4 minutes on each side.Remove to paper towel.
  • Step 9
    You can make a glaze of 2 cups confectioners sugar,1 teaspoon vanilla, and enough milk ,tablespoon at a time,to make the consistancy you want.
