A dear friend of mine gave me this recipe about 20 years ago. It makes a delicious flan, and it's super easy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 - eggs
  • 3 - egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

How To Make flan

  • Step 1
    Sprinkle sugar evenly in a heavy saucepan; place over medium heat. Cook stirring constantly until sugar melts and syrup is a light golden brown. Pour hot sugar mixture into a 9-inch glass pie plate, tilting to coat the bottom; set aside.
  • Step 2
    Combine remaining ingredients in container of an electric blender; process at high speed for 10 seconds. Pour the mixture into pie plate and place in a 14x11x2 inch pan. Pour 1 inch of hot water into the larger dish.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes or until knife inserted into center comes out clean.
  • Step 4
    Refrigerate over night.
  • Step 5
    Loosen edges with a spatula; quickly invert flan onto a serving plate.
