I personally like to bake my sweet potatoes ahead of time rather than use canned ones. Wanting more zing than a regular sweet potato pie I added the ginger. Sometimes I will add 1/4 tsp. of cardamom too! The three extracts are a huge hit with family and friends too. The scents while baking are heavenly!

    9-inch pie crusts
  • 3 c
    mashed cooked sweet potatoes
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 4
    eggs, beaten
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 1 can(s)
    16 oz. evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    lemon extract
  • 1 tsp
    orange extract
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How to Make Fall Yam Pie


  1. In a large bowl, blend all ingredients with an electric mixer.
  2. Pour into pie shells.
  3. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 40 minutes or until center is just about firm.
