I personally like to bake my sweet potatoes ahead of time rather than use canned ones. Wanting more zing than a regular sweet potato pie I added the ginger. Sometimes I will add 1/4 tsp. of cardamom too! The three extracts are a huge hit with family and friends too. The scents while baking are heavenly! too

Ingredients

  • 2 - 9-inch pie crusts
  • 3 cups mashed cooked sweet potatoes
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 4 - eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 can 16 oz. evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

How To Make fall yam pie

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, blend all ingredients with an electric mixer.
  • Step 2
    Pour into pie shells.
  • Step 3
    Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 40 minutes or until center is just about firm.
