In a medium sized saucepan combine the flour, brown sugar, and 1/4 tsp. of salt. Gradually stir in the scalded half and half. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and boils. Cook for 2 min. and remove from heat, stir occasionally. Cool for a few minutes. Blend a small amount of the pudding with the egg yolks, then add this back into the filling mixture. Cook for about 3 min. longer stirring constantly. Add the butter and 1/2 tsp. of vanilla and cool. Pour into baked crust. Beat the egg whites with 1/4 tsp. of salt and 1/2 tsp. vanilla until frothy. Gradually add 6 Tbls of sugar, beating after each addition. Beat until stiff peaks form. Spread on the pie and bake in a 350 degree oven for 12-15 min..
