English Apple Pie

1/2 cbutter or margarine

1/2 cpacked brown sugar

1 call purpose flour

2 tspground cinnamon

3 Tbspwater

1/2 cchopped pecans

4large cooking apples, peeled and sliced

1/2 cgranulated sugar

·heavy cream or half and half (optional)
How to Make English Apple Pie
- In medium-size bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with wooden spoon or electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Stir in flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, and the water until smooth and thick (use more water if necessary). Stir in pecans.
- Mound apples in 9 inch pie plate. Mix granulated sugar with remaining 1 tsp cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
- Spoon pecan topping over apples in dollops. Bake on lowest rack of preheated 375 degree oven, 45 to 50 minutes until apples are tender when pierced with a skewer. Serve in bowls with cream. Makes 8 servings.
