This is a cherished recipe handed down from my grandmother Welch.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 - 9-inch pie crust

How To Make egg pie (old fashioned)

  • Step 1
    Prebake pie shell at 400 degrees for 5 minutes; set aside.
  • Step 2
    Combine butter, sugar, flour, milk, vanilla and nutmeg.
  • Step 3
    Add beaten eggs and mix well.
  • Step 4
    Cook on stove constantly until thickened.
  • Step 5
    Pour filling into prebaked pie crust. Sprinkle top with a little nutmeg. Bake at 325 degrees for 45-55 minutes. (Don't overcook)
