This is a cherished recipe handed down from my grandmother Welch.

  • 3 large
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 c
    butter, melted
  • 1 c
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1
    9-inch pie crust

How to Make Egg Pie (Old Fashioned)


  1. Prebake pie shell at 400 degrees for 5 minutes; set aside.
  2. Combine butter, sugar, flour, milk, vanilla and nutmeg.
  3. Add beaten eggs and mix well.
  4. Cook on stove constantly until thickened.
  5. Pour filling into prebaked pie crust. Sprinkle top with a little nutmeg. Bake at 325 degrees for 45-55 minutes.
    (Don't overcook)
