Egg Nog Pie
This is a tasty pie... just like egg nog.
- baked pie shell (9-inch)
- 2/3 c
- envelope knox unflavored gelatin
- 1/2 tsp
- eggs (separated)
- 1 1/3 c
- 1 Tbsp
- 1/4 tsp
- cream of tartar
- 1/2 c
- 1/4 c
- whipped cream
- cinnamon and nutmeg
How to Make Egg Nog Pie
- 1Bake pie shell.
- 2Stir together 2/3 cup sugar, salt and gelatin in a saucepan, set aside.
Gently beat and blend egg yolks with milk.
- 3Blend egg yolks and milk. Stir into sugar mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, just until mixture comes to a boil.
- 4Place pan in bowl of ice and water, stirring occasionally until mixture mounds slightly when dropped from spoon.
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy.
Beat in 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, continue beating until stiff and glossy. Do not under beat. Fold gelatin mixture into meringue mixture.
Fold meringue mixture into whipped cream.
Pile into baked shell. Sprinkle generously with nutmeg. Chill 3 hours.
