Last week someone requested a recipe for egg custard in a pie shell,I just found my recipe today but can't remember who requested the recipe. I hope they will find this,I made this for my Grandfather many years ago,he just sat back and closed his eyes and said"this tastes just like my Mother used to make" He had a big smile on his face. I have never forgotten that.

    3 eggs
  • ·
    1/2 c sugar
  • ·
    1/4 t. nutmeg
  • ·
    1/4 t. salt
  • ·
    1 t. vanilla
  • ·
    2 c milk,scalded
  • ·
    9 inch pastry shell,unbaked,preferably homemade

How to Make Egg Custard


  1. Preheat oven to 450 deg. Beat eggs slightly. Mix sugar,nutmeg,salt and vanilla. Add eggs,slowly add to milk and mix well. Pour into pastry shell. Bake in oven for 10 minutes,then lower heat to 325 deg. and bake 25 minutes.
    Good served warm or rm. temp.
