This is an old family favorite, I got this one from my sister approx 30 years ago, it is still a favorite

Ingredients

2 pounds hamburger
5 medium potatoes
1/2 medium onion
1 small can mushrooms (optional) or 1 cup fresh mushrooms
2 dashes salt and pepper to taste
1/3 stick butter
1 package shredded cheese, i find that cheddar has the best flavor for this dish

How To Make easy sheperd's pie

Step 1

Preheat oven 350,

Step 2

brown hamburger in skillet with onions and mushrooms.
Step 3

add salt and pepper to taste
Step 4

boil potatoes until done, mash, and add butter, salt and pepper
Step 5

coat 9x13 pan with cooking spray, spread mashed potatoes, add meat, onions, and mushrooms, and dot with lots of cheese.
Step 6

place in oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until the cheese is well melted.
