easy foolproof cream pie or pudding

This is my mother's recipe. You can't over cook or scorch. Yummy and perfect every time. I thought with the holidays coming up it would be a good time to share. This is my "go to" recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 - egg yolks
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon butter

How To Make easy foolproof cream pie or pudding

  • Step 1
    Mix together sugar and cornstarch. Add 2 egg yolks and half the milk. Beat well. Add remaining milk. Gradually add 1 c. water. If you want a yellow filling add a drop or two of yellow food coloring.
  • Step 2
    Cook on full power for 3 minutes in the microwave. Remove and stir well. Return to the microwave for 3 more minutes.
  • Step 3
    Remove and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 tablespoon butter and stir to blend. If it is thicker than you want just add a tiny bit of milk till you get the consistency you want. Return to the microwave for one additional minute.
