easy chocolate cream pie

This is my most favorite pie to make for holidays or just because it is raining. All of my Friends and Family simply love this pie! This recipe can be played with such as adding any topping you like or just adding chocolate chunks to the mix. A must try kind of pie...:)

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8-1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 ounces grated or chopped unsweetened chocolate (i use the hershy's baking chocolate)
  • 3 - egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons real butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 - oreo cookie crust
  • - cool whip (or any topping you like)
  • - chocolate chips, mini

How To Make easy chocolate cream pie

  • Step 1
    Mix in heavy bottom sauce pan (2-3 qt. size) 1/3 c. Plain Flour 1 c. Sugar 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • Step 2
    Pour in 2 c. Milk (Stir until smooth) Bring to a boil then reduce heat to medium. Add chocolate and constantly stir for approx. 2 min. until chocolate is melted and mixture is thickened.
  • Step 3
    Beat in a small dish or cup 3 egg yolks (I save the whites for an egg white omelet) Add a little of the hot chocolate mixture to the yolks and stir thoroughly. Then add back to pot and cook mixture for another 2 min.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat. Add: 1tsp.Pure Vanilla 2Tbs.Real Butter And the optional cinnamon. Stir until well blended and butter is melted.
  • Step 5
    Cool Mixture at room temperature slightly Pour cooled mixture into an Oreo Cookie Pie Crust Set aside to further cool then refrigerate until set. Approx.1-2 hrs. Top with Cool Whip and Mini Chocolate Chips Or choose your own topping and serve....:)
