My Italian friend ANN ,serves this at her annual Easter dinners. I never heard of this Italian pie..but it was Delicious! She mailed me the recipe that she had found in a magazine. Maybe in Taste of Home Magazine. She said it was very close to the one her mother passed on to her. If you have never tried it...Please do! you will not be disappointed! Ingredients
- 1 - 2/3 cups flour crust
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2 - eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 - 15oz. ricotta cheese filling filling
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/4 teaspoon g rated lemon peel
- 1/4 teaspoon grated orange peel and a dash of salt
- 4 - eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- - dash ground nutmeg

Step 1In a bowl combine flour,sugar,salt and baking powder, cut the butter & shortening until it resembles small crumbs. Add eggs, stir until moistened and mix forms a ball. Cover & refrigerate for 1 hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a 10 inch circle. Place in a 9 inch pie plate, fluted crust.Refrigerate.

Step 2For filling beat the ricotta, sugar and flour in a mixing bowl. Add grated peels and salt. Beat until smooth. In a another bowl, beat eggs until thick and lemon colored, about 5 minutes, slowely fold into ricotta mixture. Gently mix in remaing ingredients. Pour into crust. Bake at 350 for 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center, comes out clean. Cool. Store in the refrigerator. Serves 6-8 servings.
