  • ·
9x12 or smaller baking pan (depends on how deep you want it)
  • 1 can(s)
    crushed pineapple (not drained)
  • 1 can(s)
cherry pie filling (or other fruit flavor)
  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 1/2 stick
  • ·
    chopped nuts (as desired)

How to Make Dump Cake

  1. Evenly spread all of the crushed pineapple in the pan.
  2. Evenly spread the cherry pie filling on top of the pineapple. I used a rubber spatula to scoop some from the can and then spread.
  3. Put cake mix in a bowl.
  4. Melt 1/2 stick of butter and mix with cake mix until it gets crumbly.
  5. Cut 1 stick of butter into slices. I used cold butter and sliced with a butter slicer I got years ago from a catalog.
Place butter slices evenly on top of the crumbled cake mix.
  6. Sprinkle nuts on top (optional).
  7. Bake at 350 degrees on middle rack for 30-35 minutes or until top is golden brown. Check at 25 minutes first time to be sure of the timing for your oven.
  8. Let cool for 1 hour.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
