Ingredients
- - 9x12 or smaller baking pan (depends on how deep you want it)
- 1 can crushed pineapple (not drained)
- 1 can cherry pie filling (or other fruit flavor)
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- - chopped nuts (as desired)
How To Make dump cake

Step 1Evenly spread all of the crushed pineapple in the pan.

Step 2Evenly spread the cherry pie filling on top of the pineapple. I used a rubber spatula to scoop some from the can and then spread.

Step 3Put cake mix in a bowl.

Step 4Melt 1/2 stick of butter and mix with cake mix until it gets crumbly.

Step 5Cut 1 stick of butter into slices. I used cold butter and sliced with a butter slicer I got years ago from a catalog. Place butter slices evenly on top of the crumbled cake mix.

Step 6Sprinkle nuts on top (optional).

Step 7Bake at 350 degrees on middle rack for 30-35 minutes or until top is golden brown. Check at 25 minutes first time to be sure of the timing for your oven.

Step 8Let cool for 1 hour. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
