Ingredients

  • 1 - pastry for 2 pie crusts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cups tart apples, diced
  • 4 - canned pear halves cut in pieces
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 2 tablespoons butter

How To Make deluxe apple pie

  • Step 1
    Line 9 inch pie pan with pastry; refrigerate until used.
  • Step 2
    Mix sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon; add to apples and mix thoroughly.
  • Step 3
    Set aside.
  • Step 4
    Crush pears and spread in bottom of pastry-lined pan; sprinkle with rum.
  • Step 5
    Heap apple mixture over pears; dot with butter.
  • Step 6
    Put on top crust; seal and crimp edges; cut slits for steam to escape.
  • Step 7
    Bake at 400 for 45 minutes or until apples are tender.
  • Step 8
    Serve warm.
