Having only a top crust makes this summer time favorite a "deep dish" pie.

Ingredients

  • 1 - pie pastry, prepared (your own or store bought)
  • 3 cups fresh or frozen blackberries, thawed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Fresh picked blackberries
    Step 1
    Place blackberries in a bowl. Combine sugar and cornstarch; sprinkle over berries. Add lemon juice and toss to coat. Spoon into a greased 1-quart baking dish.

    Step 2
    Cover filling with crust, sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on wire rack.
