Ingredients
- 6 - tart apples
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- - grated rind of one lemon
- - grated rind of 1 orange
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 - pastry recipe
- PASTRY
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup shortening
- - cold water
How To Make deep dish apple pie (mamie eisenhower)

Step 1cut shortening into the flour, add ice water a bit at a time. Blend until proper consistency for pastry. Roll out into 9" circle, fit bottom crust into pan.

Step 2Pare and slice apples, place in greased deep dish pie pan. Mix rest of ingredients except butter, and put onto apples. Dot with butter. T

Step 3Cover with pastry crust. and pinch.
