Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie
Glory, what it does to the taste buds.Serve with ice cream,cheese, or as is. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.
1pastry crust, 9 inch, deep dish (homemade or store bought)
3 Tbspall purpose flour
1 tspground cinnamon
6 cthinly sliced peeled apples (your choice, i like golden delicious and fuji)
1recipe crumb topping (see below)
1/2 cchopped pecans
1/4 ccaramel topping
INGREDIENTS FOR CRUMB TOPPING
1 cpacked brown sugar
1/2 call purpose flour
1/2 cquick cooking rolled oats
How to Make Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie
- Directions for crumb topping:
Stir together brown sugar, flour, oats.
Cut in 1/2 c butter until topping is coarse crumbs.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt.
Add apple slices and gently toss until coated.
Transfer apple mixture to the pie shell.
- Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture.
Place pie on a cookie sheet so drippings don't drop into your oven.
Cover edges with aluminum foil to prevent burnt edges.
- Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 25-30 minutes.
- Remove from oven.
Sprinkle pie with chopped pecans and drizzle caramel on top.
Cool on a wire rack for as long as you like (or as long as you can resist temptation...)
Enjoy warm or at room temp.
