i always take this pie to our thanksgiving & christmas dinners. everyone loves it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 4 cups can milk
  • 6 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make coconut cream pie

  • Step 1
    combine sugar ,cornstarch,salt in saucepan gradually add milk & cook until thick & bubbly
  • Step 2
    reduce heat, beat yolks & stir in about 1 cup of hot mixture in to yolks , return to saucepan & bring to a boil, cook 2 minutes more.
  • Step 3
    remove from heat & stir in margarine & vanilla & coconut.pour into baked pie shells. top with meringue & sprinkle with coconut . bake at 400 until meringue is light brown. makes 2 deep dish pies
  • Step 4
    you can also make chocolate or banana cream with this recipe. add 3 tbs cocoa or 2 bananas sliced.
