i always take this pie to our thanksgiving & christmas dinners.
everyone loves it.

Ingredients

1 c
sugar
1/4 c
cornstarch
4 c
can milk
6
eggs
1/2 c
coconut
1 tsp
vanilla
3 Tbsp
margarine
1/4 tsp
salt

How to Make coconut cream pie

Step-by-Step

  • 1combine sugar ,cornstarch,salt in saucepan
    gradually add milk & cook until thick & bubbly
  • 2reduce heat, beat yolks & stir in about 1 cup of hot mixture in to yolks ,
    return to saucepan & bring to a boil, cook 2 minutes more.
  • 3remove from heat & stir in margarine & vanilla & coconut.pour into baked pie shells. top with meringue
    & sprinkle with coconut .
    bake at 400 until meringue is light brown.
    makes 2 deep dish pies
  • 4you can also make chocolate or banana cream with this recipe. add 3 tbs cocoa or 2 bananas sliced.
