classic strawberry pie
Springtime means a harvest of strawberries, and that means time to make the Classic Strawberry Pie. This pie is my favorite Classic Strawberry Pie recipe. It’s simple to make and refreshing for spring or summer. Prepare a baked pie crust and pile with fresh strawberry halves. Then pour a sweet and flavorful filling over the strawberries for the perfect balance of flavor and sweetness. Top it with whipped cream for dessert perfection!

Ingredients
- 1 baked pie crust
- 1 cup mashed strawberries
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups fresh strawberries, halved
- whipped cream
How To Make classic strawberry pie

Step 1Prepare pie crust.

Step 2Set a saucepan over medium heat. Add to the saucepan 1 cup mashed strawberries, 1 1/4 cups sugar, 3 Tbsp corn starch, and 1 cup water. You may want to add a little more corn starch if you like a thick filling. I am ok with it a little runny.

Step 3Stir the mixture until thick and clear. Then stir in 1/4 stick (2 Tbsp) of butter.

Step 4Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool.

Step 5Fill the prepared crust with the halved strawberries.

Step 6Pour the cooked filling over the strawberries. Shake the pie gently so that the filling seeps down between the strawberries.

Step 7Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Step 8Top with whipped cream when ready to serve.
