Ingredients For classic pecan pie

  • 3
    eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 c
    karo syrup, light or dark -- doesn't make any difference
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 c
    pecans -- halves or pieces will do, but i like halves better.

    9-in. unbaked pie crust

How To Make classic pecan pie

    Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2
    In large bowl, stir eggs, sugar, syrup, butter, and vanilla until well blended. Sometimes I use an electric mixer, and sometimes I stir by hand. Either way is fine.

    Stir in pecans and pour into pie crust.

    Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until a table knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.

    For our family, a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of warm pie is a must!
