Classic Pecan Pie

Sandy Young

Our family loves pecan pie. Everyone in the South does, so we're not an exception. I've tried many recipes, but this one, on the Karo Syrup bottle, is delicious. Try it; you'll like it!

50 Min

eggs, slightly beaten
1 c
granulated sugar
1 c
karo syrup, light or dark -- doesn't make any difference
2 Tbsp
butter or margarine
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 1/4 c
pecans -- halves or pieces will do, but i like halves better.
9-in. unbaked pie crust

1Preheat oven to 350.
2In large bowl, stir eggs, sugar, syrup, butter, and vanilla until well blended. Sometimes I use an electric mixer, and sometimes I stir by hand. Either way is fine.
3Stir in pecans and pour into pie crust.
4Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until a table knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
5For our family, a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of warm pie is a must!
