classic pecan pie
Our family loves pecan pie. Everyone in the South does, so we're not an exception. I've tried many recipes, but this one, on the Karo Syrup bottle, is delicious. Try it; you'll like it! Photo: http://karosyrup.com/recipe_details.asp?id=485

Ingredients
- 3 - eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup karo syrup, light or dark -- doesn't make any difference
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups pecans -- halves or pieces will do, but i like halves better.
- 1 - 9-in. unbaked pie crust
How To Make classic pecan pie
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350.
-
Step 2In large bowl, stir eggs, sugar, syrup, butter, and vanilla until well blended. Sometimes I use an electric mixer, and sometimes I stir by hand. Either way is fine.
-
Step 3Stir in pecans and pour into pie crust.
-
Step 4Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until a table knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
-
Step 5For our family, a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of warm pie is a must!
