Cinnamon Apple Cobbler

I made a berry cobbler couple days ago. My man and son wanted the same crust, but with apples or peaches. I did same recipe, only substituting apples and adding cinnamon everywhere. OMG !! My house smells delicious. The last step adding the butter and sugar on top makes a crunchy candy top on it. Glad I experimented and got this great result

Ingredients

1
3 lb. bag of tart apples, peeled , cored and thinly sliced
3/4 c
sugar
1 tsp
apple pie spice, or pumpkin pie spice
2 c
flour
3 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
2 Tbsp
sugar
1 tsp
salt
1/2 c
shortening
1 c
milk
1/4 c
butter or margarine
1 c
confectioners or regular sugar ( i used granulated )
1/2 tsp
cinnamon

How to Make Cinnamon Apple Cobbler

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix sugar and cinnamon with apple slices and set aside.
    If you don't have tart apples, use less sugar.
  • 2Mix flour, 2 tbs sugar, baking powder , 1/2 tsp cinnamon and salt.
    mix in shortening
    mix in milk well
  • 3spray baking dish, with cooking spray.
    place 1/2 of dough in pan, wet fingertips with cold water and spread over bottom of pan.
  • 4place sugared apples on batter, dallop rest of dough over top, I packed apples down a little.
    wet fingers again and spread dough over top of apples
  • 5Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown
    mix sugar and butter and another 1/2 tsp cinnamon together in a small bowl, spread over top crust
  • 6turn oven down to 350 degrees.
    bake 15 minutes.
  • 7remove from oven and let cool.
  • 8Run to the store for some vanilla ice cream !!
  • 9NOTE* The size pan I used is larger than an 8 x8 x it is 10 x 5 oval.
