This recipe was in the first cookbook our church published. The lady who submitted this recipe has since passed away, but it is a staple in my family. My mother has made a few minor changes :) The recipe below is what my mother makes.

Ingredients
- 1 - 9" pie shell baked
- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 - eggs
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons butter
- pinch salt
How To Make chocolate pie

Step 1Scald 1 1/2 Cups of Milk. Mix Sugar, Cocoa, Flour, Salt, and Eggs. Stir in 1/2 C cold Milk. Pour mixture into scalded Milk. Add Butter & Vanilla to Mix while cooking

Step 2Cook and stir until thickened. Pour into pie shell & cool

Step 3Can be topped with Meringue
