THIS IS MY MOTHER IN LAW'S RECIPE AND EVERY HOLIDAY SHE WOULD ALWAYS MAKE 2 CHOCOLATE PIES, LEMON AND PECAN. THE CHOCOLATE WAS ALWAYS THE ONE WE FINISHED OFF FIRST. IT HAS SUCH A RICH CHOCOLATE FLAVOR TO IT. I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS IT JUST AS MUCH AS ALL OF OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY HAS.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup hershey's cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups milk
  • 4 - eggs
  • 1/2 stick real butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 pints whipping cream

How To Make chocolate pie

  • Step 1
    BAKE PIE SHELL AND SET ASIDE TO COOL SIFT TOGETHER IN A POT 3 CUPS SUGAR, 1 CUP FLOUR AND 1 CUP HERSHEY'S COCOA AND 1/4 TSP SALT
  • Step 2
    BEAT TOGETHER 1 1/4 CUPS OF MILK AND 4 EGGS ADD TO POT AND MIX WELL. THEN ADD 4 1/2 CUPS MILK STIR AND COOK ON MEDIUM HEAT UNTIL THICK
  • Step 3
    AFTER PUDDING IS COOKED ADD 1/2 STICK OF BUTTER AND 2 TEASPOONS OF VANILLA AND STIR WELL.
  • Step 4
    IF YOU PUT A PIECE OF PLASTIC WRAP DIRECTLY ON TO THE PUDDING IT WILL NOT LEAVE A FILM ON THE TOP OF YOUR PUDDING.
  • Step 5
    REMOVE POT FROM STOVE AND PLACE IT CAREFULLY IN A SINK OF ICE WATER FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES AND IT WILL CUT YOUR COOLING TIME IN HALF.
  • Step 6
    WHEN PUDDING IS COMPLETELY COOLED POUR INTO COOKED PIE SHELL
  • Step 7
    PLACE WHIPPING CREAM IN A BOWL ADD 1 TO 2 TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR AND WHIP UNTIL THICK. SPREAD ON TOP OF PIE. THIS RECIPE MAKES 2 PIES
