The original recipe says to bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees F, but I usually have to bake it longer. It's done when you can jiggle it a little and it's somewhat solid. Just like hot chocolate topping in a solid form. Heavenly!

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 - pie crust shell

How To Make chocolate chess pie

  • Step 1
    Melt butter.
  • Step 2
    combine dry ingredients.
  • Step 3
    Mix butter into dry ingredients (some say slowly, I find that the butter is greasy enough to prevent clumping)
  • Step 4
    Add eggs, evaporated milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Step 5
    Pour into pastry.
