Chocolate and Bananas are two flavors that just belong together. My family cannot resist this pie. I often use a crumb crust as we just like that sweetness.

Ingredients

  • - 9 inch pastry shell or crumb crust
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup hershey's cocoa
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 medium bananas, sliced

How To Make chocolate banana cream pie

  • Step 1
    Bake pastry shell per directions; set aside. Combine sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt in medium saucepan; gradually add milk, stirring until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils; boil and stir 3 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Remove from heat; blend in butter and vanilla. Pour into bowl; press plastic wrap directly onto surface cool to room temperature.
  • Step 3
    Cover bottom of cooled shell (or crumb crust) with small amount of filling. Arrange banana slices over filling; cover with remaining filling. Chill 3-4 hours or until firm. Garnish with sweetened whipped cream and banana slices if desired.
