cherry pie filling
Anyone trying this recipe needs to know how to can and process. I am not a canner by any means..but just bought a new cookbook while on vacation and found this yummy recipe for homemade cherry pie filling..sounds good to me, not that I plan on canning anytime soon, lol!! I may make this and try freezing the portions instead. My family loves cherry pie filling..so this is a must try for me!

Ingredients
- 3 quarts pitted sour cherries
- 4 cups white sugar
- 6 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups clear jel
- - red food coloring (optional)
- 1 package cherry kool-aid
How To Make cherry pie filling

Step 1Place water, sugar, cherries, food coloring, and kool-aid in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Mix clear jel and 1 1/2 cups cold water and dissolve well. Add to cherry mixture and cook till clear and thickened. Spoon into quart jars. Process for 20-25 minutes. Yield: 6-7 quarts
