sugar
2 Tbsp
cornstarch
2 Tbsp
flour
1/4 tsp
salt
1 1/2 c
milk
2
egg yolks, lightly beaten
1/2 c
whipping cream
1 1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
1
baked 9 inch pie shell
1 can(s)
cherry pie filling

How to Make Cherry Creme Pie

Step-by-Step

  • 1In saucepan combine sugar, flour, cornstarch and salt. Gradually add milk and mix until smooth. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat until very thick.
  • 2Blend a little of the hot mixture into the slightly beaten egg yolks and add to the rest of the hot mixture. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Cover and chill.
  • 3Beat whipping cream. Add vanilla to chilled mixture and beat until smooth. Fold in whipped cream.
  • 4Put whipped filling in pie shell and cover with cherry pie filling. Garnish with whipped cream if desired. Keep refrigerated.
