I got this recipe from the Homecoming Cookbook with Gloria Gaither. This is delicious and I hope everyone enjoys.

Ingredients

  • PASTRY
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 - egg
  • APPLE FILLING
  • 6 cups granny smith apples, chopped and peeled
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • CARAMEL SAUCE
  • 1-8oz package caramels
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • TOPPING
  • 1-8oz package cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/3 cup walnuts (optional)

How To Make caramel apple pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven t 350 In a large bowl, combine four, sugar, and salt. Cut butter into flour mixture until fine cumbs form. In a small bowl, combine oil, egg, and water, beat until smooth and creamy. Slowly add wet mixture to dry mixture. Blend together until dough is smooth. Press dough into a 10 inch deep pie plate. In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon and todd lightly. Spoon into crust. In a small saucepan combine caramels and half and half. Cook over low heat until smooth. Spoon caramel over apples. In a medium size saucepan combine cream cheese, sugar and egg. Cook on low heat until melted and smooth. Spoon over caramel apple mixture. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
