butter tarts / tarte au sucre

Truly a Canadian dessert. I have to post this one for my American friends so they can taste what they are missing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup ( use the real stuff)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 - eggs
  • 6 1/2 tablespoons melted butter ( use real butter)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • - raisins/pecans/walnuts your choice

How To Make butter tarts / tarte au sucre

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350. Use your favorite crust recipe and cut circles and place in tart pan. put a few raisins/pecans/walnuts on the bottom.
  • Step 2
    Mix all the ingredients together till sugar dissolves. fill pastry cup 1/2 way (filling expands) and bake for 20 to 25 min. let the tarts cool a bit before taking them out of the tart pans
