Ingredients

  • 1 1/8 teaspoons gelatin, unflavored
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 3 - egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream, whipped
  • 1 - (9-inch) pie shell baked
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How To Make homemade eggnog pie

  • Step 1
    In a small bowl - soften gelatin in cold water; set aside
  • Step 2
    In a sauce pan - combine sugar and cornstarch
  • Step 3
    Gradually stir in milk until smooth
  • Step 4
    Bring to a boil
  • Step 5
    Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened
  • Step 6
    Remove from heat
  • Step 7
    Stir a small amount of hot mixture into egg yolks
  • Step 8
    Return all to the pan
  • Step 9
    Bring to a gentle boil; stirring constantly
  • Step 10
    Remove from the heat
  • Step 11
    Stir in gelatin and vanilla
  • Step 12
    Cool to room temperature; stirring occasionally
  • Step 13
    Fold in whip cream
  • Step 14
    Pour into pie shell
  • Step 15
    Sprinkle with nutmeg
  • Step 16
    Refrigerate until set; about 2 hours or overnight
