The taste of this cake reminds me of an ice cream sundae. This was my Dad's favorite cake, I made it for his birthday every year. He passed away in August.

Ingredients

  • 1-18oz box devil's food cake mix
  • 2-21oz cans cherry pie filling
  • 1-5.1oz box instant vanilla pudding and pie filling mix
  • 1-8oz tub - Cool Whip
  • - sprinkles
  • - maraschino cherries

How To Make black forest cream pie cake

  • Step 1
    Bake cake in a 13x9 pan according to the package directions.
  • Step 2
    While cake is still warm, poke top with a fork, and spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the top of the cake.
  • Step 3
    While cake cools, prepare pudding according to package directions, let thicken. Fold Cool Whip into vanilla pudding.
  • Step 4
    Spread pudding/Cool Whip mixture evenly and carefully over cake on top of the cherry pie filling.
  • Step 5
    Decorate with sprinkles and maraschino cherries.
  • Step 6
    Cover and refrigerate.
