This version of the Southern favorite was passed down through my father's side of the family. it's a favorite at Thanksgiving, or whenever the extended family gets together.

cornmeal
2 Tbsp
vinegar
1/2 c
evaporated milk
2 stick
butter, melted
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract

unbaked pie shells

How to Make BIG MOTHER'S CHESS PIE

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2Beat eggs well.
  • 3Add sugar, flour, cornmeal, vinegar, evaporated milk, melted butter and vanilla. Continue beating as each ingredient is added.
  • 4Pour into unbaked pie shells.
  • 5Bake 30-35 minutes at 350.
