Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups cold shortening
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • FILLING
  • 8 cups fresh or frozen blackberries or raspberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour

How To Make big berry cobbler

  • Step 1
    Combine flour sugar, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add wet ingredients. Stir just till moistened. Form into a roll refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Step 2
    On a floured surface, roll two-thirds of dough into an 18"x14" rectangle. Carefully place in 9x13 glass baking dish. Covers bottom and up sides.
  • Step 3
    Combine berries, sugar and flour. Pour into crust. Use the remaining dough to make lattice strips. Place over filling. (Can brush with milk or cream)
  • Step 4
    Bake @ 400° for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° Bake 1 hour or until bubbly and browned nicely. Cool.
