classic bean pie
Before my children were born, we used to visit a really nice couple we met while attending college. We would have dinner together, and one of the things my friend would bake was bean pies. The recipe she gave me, I changed and made it my own. The consistency and texture of this pie are nice. It would go great with a whipped topping or vanilla ice cream. This filling is enough for two pies. Canned beans can be used.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Smooth, creamy, and rich, this bean pie will be a delicious addition to your holiday baking. It has a custard-like texture and tastes similar to pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie. Warm flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon shine bright. This simple pie can be made with navy beans, Great Northern beans, or pinto beans. Each bean will give a slightly different flavor.
