Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 5 - tart apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 ounces almonds, sliced
  • - sour cream

How To Make apple pie caramel almond

  • Step 1
    In small bowl, stir together flour, sugar and salt.
  • Step 2
    With fork, beat together salad oil and milk.
  • Step 3
    Stir oil mix into flour mix to make a soft dough.
  • Step 4
    Press dough into 9 inch pie plate or 10 inch shallow au-gratin dish.
  • Step 5
    Press edges to make sides about 1 inch high in gratin dish; make sides come to top of pie plate.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 425 for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
  • Step 7
    While crust bakes, prepare apples.
  • Step 8
    Mix with sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice.
  • Step 9
    Turn into baked pie shell.
  • Step 10
    Melt butter in skillet.
  • Step 11
    Add sugar, flour, cinnamon and almonds.
  • Step 12
    Boil 1 minute, stirring.
  • Step 13
    Pour over apples in pan to coat evenly.
  • Step 14
    Bake at 425 for 25-30 minutes or until caramel topping is golden and bubbly.

    Cool before serving.
  • Step 16
    Serve with sour cream, or lightly sweetened whipped cream.
