Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup shortening
- 4 - egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 10 tablespoons cold water
- 7 cups finely chopped, peeled apples
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 dash ground nutmeg
How To Make apple pie bars

Step 1CRUST: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs.

Step 2In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks, lemon juice, and water; gradually add to flour mixture, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide in half. Chill for 30 minutes.

Step 3Roll out one portion of dough between two large sheets of waxed paper into a 17" X 12" rectangle. Transfer to baking pan.

Step 4FILLING: In a large bowl, toss the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg; spread over crust.

Step 5Roll out remaining dough and add as top crust. Bake at 375* for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
