This Apple Pie is From my Grandmothers Recipe Book Dated Back to 1939

Ingredients

  • 4 or 5 - sour apples
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

How To Make apple pie

  • Step 1
    peel and cut apples into eighths, remove cores. line pie plate with your pie pastery, fill evenly with sliced apples.
  • Step 2
    Mix Sugar, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice and sprinkle over apples.dot with butter.
  • Step 3
    Add Top Crust.Bake 45 minutes or until apples are soft and crust is brown. *Recipe book does not say what temp to set oven assuming 350*F
  • Step 4
    *TIP* Dried Apples may be used in place of fresh fruit if soaked overnight in cold water. AppleSauce maybe used in a baked crust.
